Notes of pomelo and red apple, with a brown sugar sweetness.
Origin: Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia
Varietal: Ateng, Bor Bor, Catimor, and Timor
Process: Washed
Hailing from a small mill run by Cup of Excellence winner Asman Arianto, in the Pegasing district of Takengon, Sumatra, this microlot was processed using the washed method. Several coffee producers within the Pantan Musara villages are serviced by the Asman Gayo mill. These producers were displaced from their homes and land due to a natural disaster several years ago, and have since rebuilt their lives with a new focus on coffee farming.
Asman Gayo stands out as one of the few mills in Sumatra that processes coffee using both natural, as well as washed methods. Washed coffees are rarely produced in Sumatra due to the humid climate and overcast skies characteristic of the region.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like pomelo and red apple, with a brown sugar sweetness.
We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
