Makena Coffee Estate is a family-run farm that belongs to Mr Japheth, located in Gariama location in Kirinyaga County, resting on the sloped of Mount Kenya. The region has red volcanic soil and a cool climate that optimises coffee production.
During harvest season, the hand-picked cherries are delivered to the wet mill on the same day, then sorted before pulping begins. They are processed using clean river water that is recirculated before disposal into seepage pits. Then, they are sun dried and delivered to the dry mill for secondary processing.
This coffee is bright with red currant and tangerine notes, followed with black tea finish.
We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
