Located in Kenya’s central highlands, Muhathi is owned by Peris Wambui Karugondo and forms part of a family estate divided among three siblings. Each manages their own farm but shares a wet mill built by their late father in the 1980s. Established in the 1960s after Kenya’s land reforms, the estate reflects a key moment when Kenyan farmers could finally own and cultivate coffee.
This lot was processed using the washed method, with cherries hand-sorted for ripeness, pulped the same day, dry fermented for up to 24 hours, washed, graded, and slowly dried for up to three weeks.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like grapefruit and cranberry, with a brown sugar sweetness.
We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
