Frequently Asked Questions

Online Orders

When will my order be dispatched?

Most orders (excluding coffee) are processed and shipped within 1–2 business days of receiving the confirmation email, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Coffee is roasted every Wednesday, and coffee orders are shipped on Thursday or as close as possible to the roast date from ordering. A shipping confirmation is sent once the order has been dispatched.

Which payment methods are accepted?

All major credit cards are accepted.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Delivery times depend on the destination. Estimated timeframes are available via Sendle or
Australia Post once tracking information has been provided.

How do I check the status of my order?

Once an order has shipped, an email is sent with a tracking number from the delivery
provider. Tracking information may take up to 48 hours to update.

My order hasn’t arrived. What should I do?

If an order has not arrived within the estimated timeframe, customers are encouraged to
contact hello@benchcoffee.co so the team can assist further.

Subscriptions

How does the coffee subscription work?

Think of it as coffee made easy. Choose your roast profile, how much you need, and how
often you’d like it delivered. From weekly to monthly, the subscription is designed to keep
you stocked up without ever running out.

How do I change, pause, or cancel my subscription?

It’s simple. Log into your personal BOLD portal at
benchcoffee.co/pages/manage-subscriptions and adjust your settings anytime.

How much coffee should I order?

That depends on your daily ritual. As a guide, one 250g bag makes about 12.5 cups. If you
find you’re getting too much or too little, you can always tweak the quantity or frequency in
your portal.

How do I change my payment details?

All payment details can be updated directly in your BOLD portal.

Can I select a specific coffee?

Our roasting team curates selections to match your chosen profile, but if you’ve spotted a
coffee on the website that you’d love to try, email hello@benchcoffee.co and we’ll do our
best to make it happen.

I cannot log into my subscription account. What should I do?

No problem. Just reach out to hello@benchcoffee.co and the team will get you back in.

Can I receive ground coffee instead of whole beans?

Of course. We grind coffee for all brewing methods; espresso, batch brew, V60, Aeropress,
stovetop, and more.

Coffee

What is the difference between filter and espresso coffee?

It’s all about the roast.

  • Espresso roasts are a little darker bringing out body and sweetness with lower acidity. They shine in an espresso machine or stovetop, producing a bold cup that’s delicious black or with milk.

  • Filter roasts are lighter, highlighting acidity, sweetness, and delicate flavours. They’re perfect for V60, Aeropress, syphon, or batch brew.

Because BENCH COFFEE CO. favours lighter roasting, espresso beans can work beautifully as filter coffee, but filter beans aren’t recommended for espresso.

What does the origin of coffee mean?

Origin simply means where the coffee was grown.

  • A single origin comes from one country and often carries distinct flavour notes from
    that region.
  • A blend combines beans from different places, balancing flavour and body. Think of it like pairing the bright sweetness of Ethiopia with the rich depth of Colombia.

What does the variety of coffee mean?

Variety is the type of coffee cherry the bean comes from. Just like apples or grapes, different varieties offer different flavours, textures, and aromas. Ethiopia alone, for example, has thousands of unique varieties!

How long should coffee rest before brewing?

We recommend giving them a little rest, around 2–3 weeks after roasting, for the flavours to really settle. But don’t worry, they’ll still taste great outside this window.

Do you grind coffee?

Yes, we can grind beans to suit any brew method.

How should coffee be stored?

  • Whole beans: Store them in an airtight container on your bench. When you’re happy with the flavour development, you can pop them in the fridge to pause the ageing process.
  • Ground coffee: Best kept in the freezer in an airtight container.

What do the flavour notes mean on the bag?

They’re tasting cues. During cupping, our roasting team notes down the flavours that stand out– like citrus, chocolate, or honey, so you know what to expect in the cup.

Why does the coffee offering change?

Coffee is seasonal, just like fruit. It’s harvested at different times of the year around the world. As fresh lots arrive, our menu changes to reflect the best of the season. We also buy in small lots so we can showcase a wide range of farms and producers.

Brew with intention. Brew with BENCH COFFEE CO.
