The shop that started it all, BENCH COFFEE CO.’s original St Kilda Road location, sits at the edge of leafy Fawkner Park.
It offers the perfect setting to enjoy sunny days amongst the trees or to settle indoors with the aroma of freshly brewed espresso.
Since opening in 2014, this space has embodied BENCH COFFEE CO.’s vision of removing the barrier between barista and customer. Its island-style bar, a fresh concept in specialty coffee at the time, was designed to encourage connection, conversation, and transparency.
The layout reflects the company’s commitment to cleanliness, workflow efficiency, and genuine hospitality.
Built with reclaimed timber from an old fire station, the Slater St. space exudes warmth and character. Communal bench seating fosters a sense of togetherness, while the expansive outdoor area, shaded by evergreen trees, provides a calm and welcoming entrance.
The menu features espresso prepared on a La Marzocco 3-group Linea PB, alongside batch brew filter coffee, chai, hot chocolate, and matcha. Pastries from Little Cardigan Bakery, as well as house-made cookies and brownies, complement the drinks on offer.
