Ayla washing station is located in the Bombe kebele of Ethiopia’s Sidama zone, and has operated as a part of Testi Specialty Coffee since 2016. Sitting at 1,950 metres above sea level, the station serves approximately 725 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee organically on plots averaging under two hectares, grown alongside food crops under the shade of native trees.
Fertilisers and pesticides are neither available nor used in this region, and the high elevation and cool temperatures encourage slow cherry ripening, producing denser beans and greater complexity in the cup.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like white peach and mandarin, with a honey-like sweetness.
We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
