Buku Abel is a small village situated in the Guji zone of Ethiopia, sitting at 2350 metres above sea level. The high elevation and cooler climate allows for a slower maturation of the coffee cherry, producing a denser, more concentrated coffee bean with exceptional depth of flavour.
Smallholder farmers contributed to this lot processed at the Buku Washing Station. This coffee was processed via the natural method, where coffee beans are dried with the fruit intact, allowing the beans to absorb the sweetness and complexity of the surrounding fruit over an extended drying period.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like yellow nectarine and blood orange, with a black tea finish.
